Hot Springs has long been our favorite date night getaway. You can get their fairly quickly (under an hour) and it is always a beautiful spot to just walk around. Plus if you decide to stay a
little late there are several good hotel options at a reasonable price.

Over the past couple of years the food scene has seen a huge resurgence. There are so many great places in town that really hold their own against any other place in the state. Plus, there are even more coming. Every time I take a visit I hear whispers about another great new place coming in soon.

Modern look, classic dishes at The Avenue

Hot Springs is a mixed bag. There are some restaurants, joints, dives and old hotels that have that classic Garden and Gun-type of feel. Quaint, old-school Southern style at its rickety, out-of-date best. There are also the nightmarish tourist-trap souvenir shops where you can get a tie-dyed bikini and a pack of Marlboro 100s all in one go. It’s because of this dichotomy that we tend to greet upstart restaurants in the Spa City with a healthy dose of skepticism.

The Avenue to host monthly Art & Wine Dinner this weekend

The Avenue Restaurant at The Waters Hotel, 340 Central Ave., will host its next monthly Art & Wine Dinner on Sunday.

This month, a dozen of Linda Williams Palmer’s acclaimed “Champion Trees of Arkansas” creations will adorn the walls of The Avenue while guests enjoy a five-course dinner created by executive chef Casey Copeland. Each course will be paired with specifically selected wines.
